As your Doula I provide emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy and labor. My purpose is to help you have a safe, memorable and empowering birthing experience. While I cannot provide medical services I can help you gain a better understanding of the procedures and options in your birth. During labor I provide comfort with pain-relief techniques including breathing techniques, light massage, coping techniques, counter pressure and laboring positions. I highly encourage participation from your partner and offer reassurance during the process of labor and delivery. Doula FAQ

Midwifery care is personal, relationship-based care. Appointments are longer and focus on getting to know you, your pregnancy, and your goals for birth. Rather than feeling rushed through short appointments, we take time to answer questions, provide education, and support you physically and emotionally throughout pregnancy.

Homebirth is typically a good option for women with healthy, low-risk pregnancies who desire a more personal and natural birth experience. During prenatal care we monitor your health and baby’s development to ensure homebirth continues to be a safe option.

For low-risk pregnancies, research shows that planned homebirth with a trained midwife can be a safe option. Careful screening during pregnancy and attentive monitoring during labor help ensure that both mother and baby remain healthy. If circumstances change, we discuss and coordinate transfer to a hospital when needed.

Midwives receive specialized education and clinical training focused on pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, and newborn care. Midwifery education includes both academic coursework and hands-on clinical experience where students work alongside experienced midwives while learning to care for mothers and babies.

Midwives are trained to monitor healthy pregnancies, recognize potential complications, provide support during labor and birth, and care for both mother and baby in the postpartum period. Their training focuses heavily on supporting the natural physiology of birth while also knowing when additional medical care is needed.

My own midwifery training begins in Fall 2019, where I will begin a comprehensive midwifery education through a clinical hands on apprenticeship. A majority of my training  was done at a high-volume birth center along with helping various midwives in the area. I completed my training in spring of 2022. December of 2024 I sat for my NARM exam and received my certification as a. CPM.

Before beginning my formal midwifery training, I had already spent years working with families in the birth space as a birth doula, providing emotional, physical, and educational support during pregnancy and labor. That experience has given me a deep appreciation for the uniqueness of every birth and strengthened my desire to pursue midwifery.

At Wildflower Birth Services, my goal is to continue growing in knowledge and skill so I can provide thoughtful, compassionate care for every family I serve.

Midwives are trained to recognize early signs of complications and carry medications and equipment for common emergencies such as postpartum bleeding or newborn breathing support. If additional medical care is needed, we coordinate a smooth transfer to the hospital while continuing to support you.

Your midwife brings medical equipment to monitor both mother and baby and handle common emergencies. This includes a fetal doppler, oxygen, medications for postpartum bleeding, IV supplies, newborn resuscitation equipment, and other essential tools.

Prenatal appointments are typically about an hour long. During these visits we check your vitals, measure baby’s growth, listen to baby’s heartbeat, answer questions, and spend time preparing for birth, postpartum recovery, and newborn care. The goal is for you to feel informed, confident, and supported.

Your care includes regular prenatal visits throughout pregnancy, typically about 14 visits, along with postpartum visits after the baby is born to ensure both mother and baby are recovering well.

After your baby arrives and you are settled in I will  remain in your home for a few hours to monitor both you and your baby, assist with breastfeeding, and ensure everything is stable before I leave. You are able to rest in your own bed, eat your own food, and enjoy the first moments with your baby in the comfort of your home.

Postpartum visits are an important part of midwifery care. These visits focus on your recovery, emotional well-being, breastfeeding support, newborn wellness, and helping you adjust to life with your new baby.

Yes. Newborn care includes physical exams, weight checks, feeding support, and guidance during the early weeks as your baby adjusts to life outside the womb.

However, I cannot provide any vaccinations or newborn hearing screening. These will need to be done in your doctors office or with a specialist.
