Hi, I’m Alexa — wife, mother of seven, homeschool mom, and a Certified Professional Midwife.
My love for pregnancy, birth, and babies has been with me for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been drawn to learning about families, early childhood, and the incredible process of bringing new life into the world. I studied Family Studies at the University of Utah, focusing on early childhood development and family relationships, but it wasn’t until the births of my own children that my path into birth work truly began.
Each of my seven births shaped me in different ways and deepened my respect for the strength of women and the beauty of the birth process. Those experiences, along with years of supporting families in pregnancy and birth, continue to shape the way I care for the families I serve today.
My Journey Into Birth Work
My journey into birth work began in 2015 when I trained as a birth doula through DONA International. Supporting families during pregnancy and birth opened my eyes to how powerful compassionate, informed care can be.
Over the years, I attended births, assisted midwives, and continued my education in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. These experiences gave me the opportunity to learn not only the clinical skills of birth work, but also the importance of emotional support, trust, and individualized care for each family.
In the fall of 2019, I began my formal midwifery training through apprenticeship and clinical education. After years of hands-on experience and attending births alongside experienced midwives, I completed my training in the spring of 2022 and became a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) in December of 2024.
Today, midwifery is the heart of my work. I have the honor of walking alongside families through pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum weeks, providing personalized care while supporting the natural strength and wisdom of the body.
Why Wildflower Birth?
The name Wildflower Birth became especially meaningful after my family moved across the country and began building a life on our own little homestead. Our property is filled with wildflowers that grow freely and beautifully, each one unique and resilient in its own way.
During a season of big change, challenges, and growth for our family, those wildflowers felt incredibly symbolic to me. They reminded me that beauty often grows through unexpected circumstances and that each season brings something new.
Birth feels very similar.
Every pregnancy and every birth journey unfolds in its own unique way. As a midwife, my role is to nurture, guide, and support families so their experience can grow and unfold naturally — just like wildflowers do.
A Little More About Me
Life outside of midwifery is full and busy in the best way.
My husband and I are raising our seven children while learning how to build our own little homestead. Our days often include caring for our goats, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, dogs, and even a peacock, homeschooling our kids, and finding joy in the simple rhythms of family life.
I also have a well-known sweet tooth — chocolate and ice cream are definite favorites.
Being a mother has been one of the greatest influences on the way I care for the families I serve. My own experiences with pregnancy, birth, and raising children help shape the compassion, patience, and understanding I bring into my work.
